Kokkina Chomata | Cabernet Sauvignon and Kotsifali Blend, PGI Crete
An outstanding Greek red wine from Crete by the Strataridakis winery that blends exceptionally well the local red wine variety of Kotsifali 50% with 50% of Cabernet Sauvignon. A winery that’s part of one of Greece’s long standing wine families, Tsantali with 125 years of experience in wine making. Kokkina Chomata (meaning Red Earth/Soil) red wine has a deep ruby-red colour, thick at sight with pithy taste. Fragrances of wood and red ripe fruits in a background of mouthwatering butterscotch and chocolate. Well-roasted and soft tannins with a long and delightful finish.
A red wine with a luscious finish that has been matured for 12 months in French oak barrels and with great ageing potential for up to 10 years, but it’s perfect to consume now too. Ideal combination for meat with rich sauces and with mature cheeses and salumi. Pairs very well with red hearty meat dishes, game meat, especially venison, lamb, casseroles and BBQ meats.
An award winning vintage with impressive average score of 91pts, including Bronze Award by Decanter Word Wine Awards.
A must try wine if you like Syrah/Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Grenache.
